About the Barn Manager

Caitlin Spaanstra is the barn manager at Whippoorwill Equestrian Center. She has had 15 years experience working with horses.  Caitlin has owned her current horse, Striking It Red, for 8 years. Red was an off the track Thoroughbred which Caitlin retrained completely by herself. She bought a new project horse in October, a 5 year old Thoroughbred gelding, Remmie, just off the track in May. Caitlin is working on low level Dressage and jumping with him.
Caitlin has worked at many different stables, from mostly english jumping/dressage barns, to breeding farms, to leading trail rides in Estes Park, CO.  She was involved in 4-H (in both Michigan and Wisconsin) for 11 years showing horses and dogs, and in Pony Club for 2 years.
Caitlin attended Kirkwood Community College, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and graduated in 2008 with Associates Degree in Horse Science Technology. She also recieved the only Outstanding Student Award in the Horse Program. She is very passionate about what she does and enjoys coming to work everyday!
